2014 Rhys Vineyards Alpine Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

94 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. "Another complete, broad and layered red that delivers on all accounts, the 2014 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard reveals a healthy ruby color as well as a darker core of red and black raspberry fruits, peppery spice and forest floor in its medium to full-bodied, balanced personality. I love its mid-palate, and while it certainly offers pleasure today, it should be at its best from 2019-2029." - Jeb Dunnuck

94+ Points, Vinous. "The 2014 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard Hillside is a wine of gravitas and power. There is plenty of fruit intensity as well, but the 2014 is holding so much in reserve today. Black cherry, plum, menthol, licorice, spice and smoke infuse a deep, resonant Pinot Noir built for the cellar. This is a decidedly dark, virile style, but it works beautifully. Readers should plan on being patient. The 50% whole clusters are nicely balanced." -Antonio Galloni

Rhys has been extremely successful in making expressive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from cool climate vineyards located in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Anderson Valley. Their belief that the vineyard makes the wine, not the winery leads to 'spare no expense' viticulture and minimal intervention in the wine making process. Rhys has been consistently making amazing wines and is positioned to keep improving on their success. The wines are highly collectible and the Pinot Noirs will benefit greatly from cellaring.
